Exorbitant Car Price

A year ago when car prices are hovering at rock bottom prices, my brother 5 year old black vios was priced at 23K only. Today a similar car of that cost 31K, driving has become a luxury thing that young yuppies could no longer afford easily. Although we have a so called robust & reliable public transport, owning a car will still beat the public transport traveling time in most cases.

Shortly after i took over the orange pica, my brother was offloading his sporty vios to a shiny Civic. The monthly installment between a 1 litre pica and 1.6 vios is a mere $30! Don't ask me why didn't i pick the 1.6 litre, it was painful to see it slipped away : (

No complaints lah, owning a car in sg is good enuff. Sports car or small car stuck in jam is still the same. If there's a need for speed, i can always borrow my brother civic for a ride.

Although many people feels that owning a car in singapore is a liability, the money can be better used at investment savings holidays etc... As long as you don't have to compromise your living standard to budget eating bread water online movies coffeeshops cheat parking save fuel etc... Live your life to the fullest and get your appropriate ride proportional to your earnings. Some of my friends are aiming for Golf and Civic which i haven't have any plans for upgrade yet. Just be contented at the meantime.

Lunch Time Vivo Shopping

Okie i wrote a bunch of paragraphs last night but blogger screwed me up and didn't save the draft, so im back to square 1 again. Since im currently alone facing hundreds of computer systems in a very cold place, shall take abit of time off and put words into the blog.

Managed to fulfill my checklist at yesterday lunch.

- Applied for UOB one card, sales dude was pushy to persuade to sign up for 60k signature card, but no thanks

- Applied for vivocity membership which can redeem free parking with purchase

- Bought a grey blazer at topshop for 50% discount !

- Bought a hat at $43, i think im impulsive.

Went back to office and worked fanatically without teakbreak until 630pm. Dinner with my table tennis khaki at Long House chicken rice, had played many games with her but was my 1st time having meal with her. Had her accompany until 9pm for my piano lesson, played symphony no94 and home sweet home. A typical day.

Hoola 2011

Welcome 2011 and back to office on a Monday. Started the work day with a smack, yup table tennis training resumes on every Monday. Last year came close to winning the title, we are gonna get back to our winning ways and claim the king of science park haha (what a small title this is). There are other competition going on but the Ascendas game is the one we have most confident.

Oh yes i travelled to Genting/KL over the new year. Not many pictures taken because there is really nothing much to capture, i prefer my holiday(casino?) trip to be stress-free and relax. Dislike the feeling of having a camera to shoot every now and then.

New year has begun, time to put down some resolution and work towards it.
No change is bad, changes for the better is good : )

Presents

The most commonly received presents are chocolates. While some may be delicious and doesn't come cheap, the most appreciated gift i have is a personalized hand-written message. Gifts need not cost a bomb or something fanciful, it just have to be sincere and come from the heart : )

Tml is Xmas day and we celebrate the return of TJH from his oversea's studies, look forward to the gathering at claudia house!

Normally i would have slept @ this hour and especially feeling dead tired after my intensive music lesson. My teacher is really pushing me hard to the extreme, yes she admitted it at the end of today lesson seeing that i am making good progress. Now feeling the body ache despite playing the piano which using only the fingers, there are some keys that are to played such that awkward body movement is required(maybe me only oops).

Ok why am i still asleep is because i am waiting my dear friend Mr Loo to return my car keys : (
While his Honda Fit is parked right under my block, some exchange program going on again ... I figure out that blogging might be a better way to kill time than surfing forums.

In another week 2010 will be over (i miss 2010 because even number sounds good), looking back the months what have you achieved ? Recapping the things i did, shall list down to serve as good reminder and plan for new year resolution.

1. Got a car although i never really wanted in the first place.
2. Learn about car maintenance and basic modification knowledge, something which i'm always interested before i own a car, tuning of ECU, Cold air-intake, heatshield and the list goes on and on ...
3. Got a piano in my room
4. Started snapmemories and produced the first assignment DVD
5. Promoted @ work
6. Organised company Dinner and Dance
7. Received good appraisal for work performance
8. Planted my first pot of flower ( haha i know this is irrelevant )
9. Invested something for 5 figure
10. Driving up to Genting for roadtrip ( setting off on 31st with a Subaru Impreza to "conquer" NSHW )

Of cos there are other happenings but shall leave them out in the picture : )

After a month of hardwork, our masterpiece is finally ready for delivery. As the client is an elite childcare company, we had to meet the expectation and deliver the results. From photography, videography, design, mass production, costing, there were many details which we need to take care. Though there was some minor hicups, but we managed to produce a satisfactory end product. For sure the next assignment we will leverage our gained experience and do a better job, there is always room for improvement. Ok gotta deliver to goods and collect $$$, well done Team Snapmemories : )

No Customer Service

After a lazy Saturday, it's time for me to indulge into materialistic alittle bit with the spare cash. Drove down to orchard ION and limit myself to stay there for 2 hours for "damage control". Walked into the "branded" boutique but im not very pleased with the service. There were at least 3 staff idling around and waiting to be approached. Attitude abit bo chap except 1 sales girl who puts on smile on her face but apparently she only in charge of the other half of the store. Means when choosing clothes, she won't be around to attend my request. Only when i come out from the changing room, she will ask if it fits.

Since i do not have the luxury to walk over to another outlet in shaw tower, just pay the money and leave the place quickly. I thought upmarket store should provide better service? Another disappointing encounter at Uniqlo, picked a pair of socks to the counter only to be told minimum purchase is 2 pair. It's not even a promotional item, dumb marketing huh. I think these days they treat customer for granted, when i purchased i-pad and i-pod nano at epi center, i didn't receive "vip" treatment also. I thought they would treat me as big customer, maybe if i order 10 sets of ipad without batting an eyelid, they would change their attitude to $_$, yes sir how can i help you ?

Lazy Saturday

After a splendid Friday, i shall stay home on Sat to relax and give myself a homely break. A glass of red and the tabloid newpaper is just nice after a heavy lunch. Today is the bonus cum payday for civil servants, i bet the streets would be filled with shopping enthusiast. But nope i'm not join them, i should be washing the car at multi-storey carpark instead.

Its a friday and my father was wondering why didnt i report work this morning. He's usual thought would be, "ah must be going to do something to the car again". "No-lah, you are usually correct but im going to watch the cinderel-lah lah", i replied modestly. Because he was half correct, im going to send the car to the workshop next week for few days to change the suspension. That means taking transport to work, i shall enjoy the scenery and music in the bus during the journey. Though the show starts at night, my day time will be spent in ecp enjoying the sun and beach.

My flowers are doing quite well and several more are to come. Loving it everyday when i leave home for work, simply beautiful =D

What Goes Behind in An Interview Room

Today i had the opportunity to interview a potential candidate who is applying to join my organisation. 2 Years ago i was facing the "judging" panel, now it's my turn to be in the stress-free position as the interviewer. Here's some of my observation on what possibly could be improved or avoided by the interviewee. I shall also share the procedure from the start when we kept them waiting until the end of the session, which we will give them "homework" to complete.

1. When the interviewee arrives, we will be called upon and sit in the room preparing to "grill" them. Before the session begins, we screen through their resume/results,email correspondence and FYP write-up. This is to raise any doubts or to better understand them when the conversation begins.

2. Well today it's a lady hence we shall be "gentlemen" and keep things easy for her. First impression, petite fair lady who looks like just graduated from Poly. Nervous yes, usually the case for fresh graduate. Soft spoken with slight "british accent", takes awhile to warm up . Dressing could be improved but we are not shenton way so it's ok lah, the was a small spot on the shirt which was kinda distracting to us, this could have been easily clean at the washroom.

3. Body language, slightly laid back. Could speak with more firm tone or enthusisam, the ideal voice would be a steady and confident with a punch which was lacking. Positioning was abit slanted, again more room for improvement.

4. Documentation, didn't clear state the year enrol and completion for tertiary studies, we had to play guessing game. Period stated for oversea's volunteering work was 2 years, in actual fact was 2 months, mistake. Result for university not attached, she completed 2 degree but only produced 1 result. The answer for the question of "why the FYP was chosen" was a 1 liner, pretty disappointed with the lack of effort.

5. Answering, pretty much routine chit chat and discussion on soft-skill sets ( We couldn't expect technical subjects from fresh grads). When it comes to asking her to rate the level of interest for job, it was an 8. I think 9 would be a better figure, 10 is over-rated. Haha again quite subjective.

Though we didn't think that she was suitable for the job, we still decided to let her write the essay test should her English impress us. Utimately it's up to my director to grant her a 2nd interview and hire her. Chances quite slim but at least opportunity given : ) Acing an interview isn't too difficult if one overcome the fear and speak with confident. No skill nevermind cos it can always be pick up later.

No Bargain @ Sitex

Whenever there is an ongoing PC show exhibition, friends would either ask me for the best deal or even accompany them to check out good bargain. I can't remember how many times i rejected the idea of visiting the crowded PC, or simply better off telling them to purchase gadgets at Sim Lim or Funan. The most frequently asked question i get was enquiry on cameras, it's a bad idea to buy camera at the show because they are selling at retail price bundled with lots of redundant freebies to entice customer. For camera purchase, it's best to head down to funan reputable shops and save up to $100+ without having trouble to squeeze or finding carpark lots.

The only thing i bought for the past few years PC show is a GPS unit, which im unsure where to buy it except from the exhibitor. Today it's a sunday, i think many people are going to expo and expect a huge slash price on the products. No doubt this year bonus is the best compared to recent years, but i still do not have anything in mind to get. Alot of "wants" to get, but i pretty fine living without it. Well i did changed to new sports rim and tyres, i think its super chio loh although abit waste money haha. Next time i will share the mods which i did over the past few months, no choice backside always itchy. One man meat is another man poison : )

Hot Monday

What a hot monday this is, i can vow for this because i wasn't staying in the air conditioned office. Took half day leave to rest as my cold is getting worse, but somehow i still need to run some errand hence got the opportunity to experience the warm weather. Quickly send my camera for servicing, da bao famous ang gu kuah, top up brake fluid foc, changed rim and tyre, wrap carbon fibre sticker, purchase little accessories and head back home. Glad to fully "utilise" my half day but on the other hand, im not feeling any better after popping down the pills.

Completed a production with the fellow snapmemories dudes, however the aftermath is the chore. Editing raw pics and video plus cover design, there's many more work to be done...

Oops, seems like the post is getting shorter.
Blame the weatherman haha, ok i know it's not funny =p

Gearing Up

As our hobby for photography grow, it became a passion in us that prompted us to provide our "talent" to others who might use it. Hence Snapmemories was born, consisting of few senior photographer and videographer (im junior for sure =p ) It's will be a long way to become a pro, having a proper gear is just the first step, there will be many things to learn and explore along the way. Surely we can't be stuck in the comfort zone and not progressing, only through challenge and venture would make 1 become stronger and experienced.

Stepping out requires huge courage but it's only just the beginning, bring it on : )

The Agony of Organising

Recently i was tasked to organise Lunch and Dinner for office and poly gathering respectively. Although to some might be "saikang", i gladly take up the job as organiser since most people would not be willingly to do so. Actually it doesn't require much effort except choosing a good location and making sure people turn up. Location isn't much of a problem as i frequently check on worthy makan places but there is no guarantee for turn up rate. It is a good practice to inform attendee's on the date as early as 2 weeks in advance to pre-empt them. If they are interested to attend, they will make the effort to block out the date for the function, else no matter how early you pre-empt them, they will not turn up.

To "pyshco" them to participate, i would draft a personal message indicating why they should turn up and the event anticipating them. After awhile, i get some replies while some others may yet to reply. I would send another reminder message to them in case they are busy and over-look the message (seriously how busy can they get?)

1 week before the actual event, send reminder message again through facebook. Make reservation 1 day in advance and if necessary send sms on the day itself. This is my protocol, just a basic guideline and responsibility to follow through. But i have my fair share of seeing ugly colours of people, such as shrugging responsibility and ignoring the invitation.

Some excuses
- Busy, are you self-made millionaire or own a business that you cant excuse yourself. Busy = poor time mangement, won't bother with such "busy" people
- Not interested, low self-esteem who is not earning high or doesn't have a job, afraid of mocking/comparison at the gathering. Again own thinking at fault so i really can't help if you think that way, we are so long time friends who will not look down you.
- Not willing to take up responsibility for co-organising, i can't see how far you can advance in career or life, probably limited social friends as well.
- Stubborn attitude, you always insist that you are right and refuse to listen for opinions. Too stubborn for your own good, i will try to steer clear of such people.

At the end of the event, being the host i will offer to settle the bill, however this is optional i guess.

A Pot of Surprise

As i was saying receiving a plant from Pamela, i got it from her couple of days ago. The plant was imported from South African and not sold locally. She initially wanted give it to me when the flower blossom but i insisted to take care it right from the start. Back in her home in Malaysia, her family runs a mini business growing thousands of flower in her own backyard. Imagine living in a garden of your own, i think it's a blessing isn't it?

I might have a chance to visit it when i fly to Kuching in February. I heard it's a nice town with lots of delicacy : ) Far from the huzzle and buzzle of city, it would be a perfect getaway for the Chinese New Year period. Take it as reaping a little reward for the hard-work reap put in this year, it's good to pamper yourself to relax and prepare for further progression.

Hi Peeps. As you can notice i'm beginning to fail my SLA (service level agreement) to make a blog post everyday. Getting busier lately, but i feel that my time are worth for the things i planned out. The time right now is 2am, had a great time with Claudia and Lawrence chill out at Liquid Cafe follow by some mischievous act at Seletar Reservoir. We did not go there to make out but instead disturb those shaking cars and shining torch at them. I know it's very immoral to do that, but trust us we only do this like once in a decade. Feel like going back to 20's when we were so ignorant. Yo TJH you reading this? =D

JB night with the buddies, can you recongise them? Hasn't change abit do they ?

Mr loo is always keen to swap cars for a day drive to experience different car performance. Colleagues thought i changed car, but amused when they found out the truth haha. And he's already planning to swap car with yp next monday, any interested parties to exchange his "zhng" honda fit may contact him.

Holiday for most, i will be out of town for site survey. When i come back i will need to buy sand for the plants, ok this is so random. Brain not functioning well at this timing. Oh somebody is complaining about me on facebook because i couldn't make it for the movie, is there a need to do so? Can't be bothered haiz...

Atas Chocolate

When my friend gave me a so called "atas" chocolate, i thought it was from Royce or Godiva. Actually i only tasted them few times before and think it's overated for it's pricing. Supermarket Meiji chocolate just taste fine as well. However im not so sure about this made in italy chocolate that is bought from oversea's. Shall bring it to office and share with my colleagues, has a rather high expectation from it haha.

She's also very nice to plant a pot of flower for me and giving me when the flower blooms (about 2 weeks). It's a breed imported from South Africa, very colour and unique. When i receive it, im gonna put it on my BIG TOY for decoration. Thanks pam !

From 6 to 6

6am - 10am (Morning Spiritual Walk)
The hectic schedule has kept me occupied and refraining my time to sit down and update this space. It all began on a rainy Saturday 6am, my very-on neighbour has suggested me to jog to Yishun Dam to catch the sunrise. The rain delayed the plan so it became just breakfast cum walk to Yishun Dam instead. Having drive/cycle to Yishun Dam before, the estimated 6km walk journey was still quite okay to me, but i reckon it will be once in a blue moon affair.

2-4pm ( The Visit )
Arrived late morning home to catch up some sleep before going out again in the afternoon with my Grandma to visit my ill stricken Auntie who had cancer. She lost so much weight and looked aged, her once voluminous black hair had turned sparse and grey. Her smile welcomed at us at the gate, it was really heart-warming despite knowing that she had been tormented by the illness. Beside's battling with her illness, she also has to take care her husband who is suffering from dementia. I'm not sure how serious is he's condition but he assisted to carry in the wheelchair and offered me a sit in their living room, giving me a thumbs up when i thanked him for his hospitality.

In the 2-room Boon Keng flat lies a sad story. A couple of years when she was diagnosed with cancer, her daughter made a big fuss because of the medical fees involved. Soon she cut off ties with my Auntie and left her to feed on herself. Knowing that she has little chance of recovery(last stage), my Auntie became depressed and isolated themselves from the outside world. Only in the wee morning she would step out of the house and buy grocery to cook simple meals. As for dinner, volunteers will provide for them. I remembered she would call my mum often for chit chat and meet up for Mahjong Session but all this stopped suddenly.

It really destroy the life/family and made me realise how fragile life could be. Before me and my sister left, we "stuffed" her money for her to buy tonics. Even though the sum is not huge, i could see her appreciation from her eyes. It has been a long time since anyone visited them and could tell she's happy that someone still care for her. She walked us to the lift and wave goodbye to us until the lift door shut and moved off. The scene left a deep impression in my mind, it was heart-breaking. My feet was caked with dust, i wonder how long ago was that floor wiped...

4-6pm (Personal)
Went over to Seah street for business matters.

8-12 Midnight (Chillout)
Catch up with 3 xiaomeimei at Rail Mall coffeebean and walkabout at bottletree village. They just loved to be toured around but i hope they do get married soon.

1-4am (Soccer Madness)
Guys can get really crazy just to catch their favourite team in action. Drove to Kranji Turfclub but got disappointed as they aint showing Spanish League. Made a mad dash to Resort World Sentosa to satisfy our hunger for soccer. Even though parking was $8, it was eased off by the Victory of Real Madrid.

4am - 5am (Breakfast)
Quick breakfast at Sembawang Road Hans and home sweet home.

Eat Work Play

All work no play makes Jack a dull boy, especially in a male dominant environment like our office. Feeling tired and need a break? There is always fun table soccer for those who enjoy playing without breaking a sweat under the hot sun! Sometimes we need to put down our load and have a go at the table soccer games for some relaxation and team-bonding. I actually honed my skills at my last reservist so my colleagues weren't a match for me heehee, so i ended up being the photographer.

I may suck in tennis but table tennis is my forte : )

Just a short post today, it's getting late after having my lessons.

Back to School

It was a fine Wednesday morning after the rain and im supposed to get up and prepare for work. One dreaded thing about getting to work is that the weather is so fine that you wish could just continue tucking in the bed. Oh wait a minute, i'm on annual leave today. Instead of remaining in bed, i decided to better make use of my time.

What's a better way to start off the wonderful morning with a hearty breakfast? Being a kind samaritan, i offer to send my neighbour(not xiaomeimei) to her/my school in amk, since i haven't went back for quite sometime. Miss the good food in Engineering canteen! Walkabout the school to take some pictures and i realise there wasn't dramatic change in interior except for students perhaps =D

Working as a lecturer is one of the best job around, don't you thnk so? I remember we as students always envy and dream of become a lecturer one day, satisfying job, great environment and good pay (^^)b

Dinner @ Sheranton Tower

Do you ever recall any scenes on local drama where they filmed in a resturant with man-made water fall as backdrop? The dining room in Sheranton Tower is a well-known romantic place with it's cascading waterfalls as scenery. However i'm not there for dinner date, perhaps another time when the occasion arise.

I was invited by business partner to attend their presentation award dinner, i guess it's also some form of appreciation dinner for customers. Of course the purpose is to network with the bankers, engineers, etc and build rapport with them. It was all the usual business talk like discussing on technology and solutions for business requirement. When dinner was served, my interest shifted to taking pictures on the mouth-watering dishes =D

Gearing up for 2 major shoot in Nov and Dec. Gotta start learning using Canon 7D though i'm not a huge fan of it. Gotta try hard falling in love with it.

Matchmaking at the Shoe Shop

It was a routine Sunday afternoon driving my mum to the market to stock up her grocery. Noticing that i have been wearing the worn-out mis-matched colour slippers, my mum introduced me to a shop that sells rather fashionable slippers. As my previous pair of white slippers bought in Bugis was stolen overnight, i thought it isn't a bad idea to buy a cheaper one without travelling to town.

After selecting the design and getting the right size from the customer-service oriented Auntie, she asked for my age and guessed that im only 24. Before i can replied, my mum answered on my behalf and the auntie's "conversation" started. Worried about my future, my mum asked the store auntie if she has any suitable candidates to introduce to me. "Yes, i have a daughter who's 25 this year and still single", the auntie replied excitedly. She told us that her pretty daughter would be appearing in the new this evening for some interview. And i'm welcomed back anytime to the shop to look for her if i'm interested in making friends =)

I thought referral system while buying stuff in the market was a thing of a past, but i know my mum would be keeping a lookout for this evening news.

When it comes to watching 3D movie, im actually quite skeptical over the limited 3D effect on screen considering the extra charges you pay. 3D effect on stepup was great but almost non-existence for resident evil. When my neighbour suggested to catch this movie, i was hesitating wearing a 3D glass over my glasses.

3D effect was consistent in the movie, and kudos to the film-makers for simulating the ghost "jumping out from the screen". Shabby storyline as expected, however the ghostly 3D effects make it up for it's shortcomings. And having someone screaming beside you completes the experience, afterall we are just paying to scare ourselves isnt't it ?

Tio Summon at Home

In contrary to the past, i try to make an effort to write something different everyday. In the past i was too concern with the topics and always like to maintain a certain "standard" before each post gets published. Those were the days when we were young and carefree :p Without much burden and could afford to do whatever we wanted.

Now i treat this space as a sharing platform, whether it interest you or draw traffic is secondary. Afterall blog should be something personal (unless celebrity), adequate to share with friends yet not too intruding. Realising that i have not been fulfilling my life for the past few months, i decided to spend the most out of it and do something which i always like, photography and music. Shall share more next time.

Do you find it incredible to get parking tickets at home when you have a valid season parking RFID? Many thanks to car over population and limited park lots in older estates, people who came home late night have to park illegally.

So drivers have to park creatively without blocking the traffic. Maybe the traffic warden fined them for not getting up early and park their cars back to the free lots. But late night work/movie/JB sure very tired and difficult to get up in the morning. Looks like only a well-written appeal letter will save their pocket getting burnt.

Shop N Run

Just a couple of weeks ago i caught up with my radiographer(not photographer) friend at the New-water plant located in Changi for sight-seeing. Guided tour are available at selected timing, there was only 6 persons attending the tour. Despite the low turnout, the guide maintained his professionalism and explained the process of turning dirty water into portable water. To sum it up, the new water plant works by filtering waste water not once but twice, and lastly flow through UV rays to kill any bacteria. And finally mix them into the reservoir that flows into our tap (with a ratio of 10% newater and 90% rainwater).

Next we head over to expo to check out random mega sales and little would i expect to witness a drama. As i was coming out from the John-Little sales hall with bags of crackers, few men were giving chase to a man who was heading towards the carpark. The man with huge bags, remotely disarm his car doors and hop on to his Honda Stream. Ignite engine and drove off before the security guards could reach him (just 2 seconds late).

After that i overheard that the guy only paid few items and smuggle the whole bag of items out of the expo hall. Though he managed to escape, but his car=plate number gave him away. Seriously what is wrong with this kind of people, got money to drive car but no money to shop at John-Little sale. You can cheat carpark coupons but stealing is unforgivable.

So dinner was settled at Expo Food court. Spotted the legendary Lau Fu Zi Char Kway Tiao but flavour lost to the original old airport stall.

Have you ever received mail or message without name? It leaves you wondering who is the mysterious person "x", little clues left behind usually wouldn't help to solve the case.

There was once i received a mail via internal despatch. Meaning that anyone in the company could just send an envelope to another colleague without having to indicate his/her name. So i opened up this brown envelope and found nothing except a red string with missing G(pun intended). What does a red string suppose to mean, friend or foe? I didnt think too much, perhaps that could be my mischievous colleagues playing a prank on me. Things went as per normal in office after that so i concluded it wasn't from some sort of "enemies".

Today i found this note on my table, apparently somebody is trying to play mind games with me again. However this time round it was on a friendly side. Did a quick check in my office and nobody admitted to the "crime". Judging from the relatively neat handwriting and circles on "i" and ! (lazy guys would just put a dot), it should come from the female hands.

What should you do if you are unable to start your car engine?
Fret not, do make sure your gear is in "P" mode before you start cranking again. Else it could be a case of battery failure.

Usually there would be some symptoms before it give up on you such as; longer/diffculty cranking time, weak radio/window. Unfortunately for the 2 occasion that happened to me, there wasn't any signs for me to pre-empt. The last time it occurred to me was at an atm nearby my house. Made a phone call for help to my sis in law to jumpstart the car, changed to a wet cell battery at a petrol station and totally forgot about the maintenance. Lasted me for a good 2 years before it died on me again without any warning.

Fortunately in this unfortunate situation my car was parked at my house. Hence i could afford to take the time to look for help without worrying of getting summon or left stranded in some ulu places. I'm glad i made it back home from Orchard the previous night, it would be disastrous to be stuck in B2 carpark hot and sweaty with the clock ticking down on the parking charges. No reception, no internet, hot n humid, per min parking charges !

My brother came to my rescue in his shiny white civic and hook up the cables to revive my pikachu. It was like performing CPR + defibrillator on the dead pikachu but to no vail. Checked out the forum for the best deal for battery onsite installment and they arrived 45 minutes after activation. A simple 10 minutes job, paid alittle bit more for the delivery charges and the roaring pikachu was back to life again.

Looks like i will be pushing my luck for another 2 years hoping that the "sudden death" won't happen in a place you don't wanna be ( cemetery, erp carpark, ulu places etc ) But this new battery comes with an indicator that i can roughly gauge it's lifespan, at least i would able to do preventive maintenance.

Im blogging because someone encouraged me to write something so i thought i could share some knowledge or stories here. Nothing spectacular like the past, just words =)

In the Midst of Reservist

Managed to pass my IPPT for current window period despite not having adequate exercise during the in camp training for body conditioning. At least i have a piece of mind till the next window period not worrying about attending remedial training that takes up bulk of free time. But i reckon it's gonna be tougher each year, accustom to typical officer worker lifestyle will lead to lack of physical fitness. Attending RT will be the worst nightmare for me, hope i will be able to maintain the fitness to pass the test every year.

Tarts baked by Belle, Jamie has a share as well. Gonna bring this to camp tomorrow to share with buddies for teabreak.I think i have put on some weight over the past week, the good thing about army is you can be sure they feed you pretty well.

Orange Pikachu will be back next month, it's been sometime since i drove it. You guys might have the chance to sit it again, let me work out the sums with my sister before making the decision.

Also will be selling away my Panasonic Cameras after the Sentosa private event shoot. Anybody keen to own the cameras and shoot like a pro ? Otherwise they will be up for grabs in the forum, it definitely won't be a problem to offload these 2 awesome camera. It's hard to find fault with them, just that i might be getting something else (or might not) to suit my appetite.

Journey to the West

When it comes to food hunting or chill out spots, it seems that the west side has always been under appreciated. Too often our mind would tend to sway towards the East, in my opinion the top of the list of hot spots are :

1. Changi Village, red tea jelly logan at the market must try after main course. Follow by free road show by the transformer at the carpark.
2. Geylang, Dim Sum/ Beef Hor Fun, just can't get enough of them ! Plenty of distance to walk around for digestion around the area.
3. East Coast, Rojak/BBQ chicken wings and sugar cane to quench thirst. Do i have to mention the scenery at the beach ?
4. Bedok 85 market, to die for Bak Chor Mee and many delicious local food...
5. Serangoon Chomp Chomp, how can you forget the infamous RK eating house ? No pork order please !

This is so unfair, is the god showing favoritism to the east landers ? Even the locals are discussing whether the babes in the East are prettier than any other areas. I'm sure you have heard the saying that lots of cute babes cluster in Tampines, or perhaps many love to flock over there for certain reasons. As a northern resident, my theory is grass is always green on the other side.

Having said all that, is there any hope left for the West ? If you had previously joined me for the journey to the East http://strictlyeuro.blogspot.com/2008/05/to-eastland.html, make a U-turn to the West and check what's left over there in our small sunny island.

Last Christmas

Looking through the photo albums uploaded towards the end of 2009, i discovered that many had uploaded their prized possession and named it "Xmas : Season of Giving" or "Me to Him/Her". As expected you would see presents valued equivalent no less than a Iphone. To quote some examples, branded bags/wallet, super high end camera, cell-phones manufactured by a fruit name and the list goes on. Sure it does feels good to have someone fulfilled your wishlist, however that would mean that you have to do the same for the other party.

In short Christmas is simply an excuse for you to burn a hole in your pocket to get that thing you wanted very much, except to exchange it with a similar hefty priced gift. I have been in similar position last year but don't even get me started on that. I had my fair share of Xmas celebration this year, and i thought it would be great to post them in my blog instead.

A thank you photograph from Sarah dated Dec 2010. The picture is a similar scene taken at the recent Dinner and Dance so i figured out it must be a honest mistake.

A bottle of South African wine from the gift exchange party. Exactly what i wanted in the first place, i would have no use for cute cushion, cookies, chocolates, and more chocolates. The only grief i have is the lack of wine opener at home, can see cannot drink, it's like underage teen barred from drinking but able to juggle the bottle. Anyway i have a feeling that this gonna taste really sour.

On the day before Christmas Eve Singpost delivered to my door step a walkman cellphone. It must have been the greatest surprise because i do not have to pay a single cents for it. Like an anxious boy in the candy store, i unwrapped it only to discover a camera lookalike module behind. Santa Claus must have been unaware the position i'm in hence i have sold it away for good clause. All things come with a price literally, my contract is extended for another cool 24 mths. i believe Santa Claus must have been unpleased with my action.

To pacify his anger and ensure that i would continue to receive gifts more good years ahead, i attempted to buy back the phone but was unsuccessfully. He must have felt my remorse and forgive me by granting additional 2 non camera phone on Xmas day. My joy was short-lived as i discovered that the profit from the sale had mysteriously disappeared from my ah-nia bay wallet. I will try to sell away the excessive phone when Santa Claus returns to Finland.

All is not lost, there is light afterall at the end of the tunnel, not that a shiny new car is waiting for me though.

It was a snowman standing on my table despite it's not snowing in Singapore. You don't need snow to celebrate Christmas, just like not having a valid reason for giving gifts.

When Santa Claus left the country, he couldn't carry the excessive baggage therefore he left quite abit of fortune for me. Unlimited supply of Snapper drink for all occasion, particularly Chinese New Year. I don't know how long is the unlimited supply gonna last me before he re-claim it back this Christmas, enjoy while it last !

As the birthday planner for grave, i was tasked to find a location to hold his very private celebration with just the four of us. He has been obsessed playing L4D2 with us therefore insisted we meet up on his special day instead with the ~~zombies~~ babes surrounding him.

Though he was expecting a treat at random posh restaurant near his house in town area, he wasn't exactly going to get that kind of treatment. Neither are we planning to book a hotel room for him, surprised by friends jumping out of closet and pull the party poppers at him. Instead it's just going to be simple and exquisite, no need something fanciful nor expensive yet equally memorable. I know he's going to be disappointed that there will be no hooters girls serving you, since i'm calling the shots so no sleazy pubs for us tonight.

Selected presenters will showcase 10 best picture they produced to impress the professional reviewers, obviously they are not going to be easily pleased unless your picture possesses an "X" factor.

A perfectly timed shot on a bird taking flight, or was the bird limping ? Nevertheless it's a great shot in my opinion.

Innocent cats, they are lovely. But it's something we commonly see and the picture does not tell much of a story.

Beautiful streaks of colour zooming past Robinson Quay, many must be wondering how to achieve this effect. I'm impressed by the lady, this is unique.

Next comes another industrial female photographer sharing her exotic art work.

More boring work appeared towards the end, poor composition with non visible expression from the skaters and a distracting cone in the middle. Deserved a tongue lashing from the judges heh.

Oh i didn't take part in the presentation as i feel that I'm not up to the "mark" yet. But it was certainly beneficial participating as an observer, to learn how to brush up your composition before the shutter is clicked. Next time before you press the shutter, think of how your picture is going to tell a story. They say pictures are worth a million words, only if it's properly composed.

But what still puzzled me is that why are people willing to fork out $$$ for models to pose in lingerie in a secluded corner ? If you are a serious genuine photographer then i guess your friends would not mind to be your model. Perhaps it's publicly known pervert to their friends, therefore they turned to paid service. Afterward what are they gonna do with the pictures, sit back relax at their desk drinking coffee and fantasize ? And the model happily collects their token and add expansion to their LV or Longchimpanzee bag collection, so i reckon it's a win win situation anyway.

As the school holidays and year end are drawing closer, some of ya might be planning for trips to popular sight seeing places in Singapore such as Flyer, Sentosa, Zoo and the boring list goes on and on ... For the more adventurous one's can consider alternative activities which provides no less thrills than tourism spots. Here's a compilation of the past 10 sites i visited where 99.9% of the population don't wanna be at, unless you put a gun to their head.

#1 Hillview Mansion
A legendary mansion located near Ministry of Defence, the story of it's existence has been floating around until today it's still been discussed in forums. I don't wish to tell grand-mother story here but information can be easily googled off the internet. This should be the "blue house" in the formation of colour coded haunted house (red house, white house, yellow house etc ...)

#2 Pasir Ris Low Red House
Surely this has been the top list for the itinerary in Pasir Ris chalet. I know most chao ginnas would love to do this, bring a group of girls to red house and act brave to impress them. But in fact they are actually very afraid of the unknown entities. Police do petrol the place very often so prepare to get Low when you spot them, Boomz.

#3 View Road Mental Hospital
Once a hospital to house the mentally unsound, moved house to Woodbridge hospital and left vacent after since. However unsettled spirits remain at the old building, still wandering around with no specific purpose. Loud screams and unknown door banging could be heard, act of insane patients ?

#4 Old Army Logistic Camp
As this was featured not long ago in my recent entries, i shall save on the introduction part. Despite having rather "clean" experience in the camp, i reckon nobody would want to come an abandon buildings regardless of reason. At least i did, for a modeling shoot in this god forsaken place, and she loves it.

#5 Old Changi Hospital
The most frequent talk about haunted hospital needs no introduction, because everybody's talking about it ! A mystery remains to be solved, the hidden underground mortuary which we failed to discover until today. Alot of hearsay, but no hard evidence/pictures proving it's worth of existence.

It was almost like the H1N1 virus invaded the neighbourhood estate that caused it to become a dead town. What's a better place than this to play block catching ?

When land is especially scarce on our island, why would a whole block of flat be left empty ? Perhaps it's the unwelcome visitors that are preventing people from inhabiting it, only the authority knows. Oh i think recently foreigners are occupying the rooms, maybe you can verify when taking a MRT trip to woodlands.

Couple of shots taken by me in the day time, at night it transform into a haunted house from it's original beauty. Rumoured to be cursed. any attempt to demolish the building will result in unexpected state... Story told by a friend father who is in the construction industry, it's the reason why it remains till today, a land mark at punggol MRT.

#10 Marsiling Dungeon
May i present the favourite spot of all times in my ghost haunting journey, the Marsiling Dungeon ! The hunt for the secret tunnel leading to Malaysia was definitely the most memorable moment with my team mates. We virtually swept/combed the whole forest for the god darn tunnels... Did we end up in Johor at the end of the tunnel ? That is for you to be there to find out : )

At Lim Chu Kang Farm

While making rounds searching for unknown entities in the middle of the night in Lim Chu Kang, we stopped by at this little shack with no gates or any other form of signage. There was no way we could memorize the route to this place after countless of turns in the rural location, unless somebody is frequent visitor to this place.

"Welcome to my fish farm", then my friend proceeded to unlock the door and led us in... My first thought - not bad, still kept rather tidy ... but soon i changed my opinion.

Ok, can i take back what i just said ? Welcome to the primitive life as a farmer, not a usual sight in the HDB, more like what we commonly see in a worker's quarter.

Next we took a walk outside to visit his fish ponds, unfortunately it was too dark to figure out any fishes. Our presence were felt by the dogs howling in the dark, darn irritating breaking the peaceful silence.

We should come back someday in the morning, catch some live fish and have a meal here. What a way to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, don't you think so ?

Update After the Boomz

What's next after the boomz saga ? Yup i got my PC up and running at the expense of my coffers ;( By buying an entirely new setup, it's the fastest way to get-out-of-jail card rather than troubleshooting the components and replacing the faulty one, though im quite sure it's the CPU that's burned. But i decided that my affair with AMD has ended as she has been throwing tantrum occasionally like a girlfriend does.

Recently i have been kindly reminded to update this neglected lonely blog, thanks for your loyalty visit but there's heart stopping adventure that i could share with all. Life has been pretty routine occupied with photoshoots, makan session, JB trips and lastly work of course. Nevertheless it's time that this blog deserve some pictures and words, i will try my best to make it interesting... And nope im not going to add salt to the boomz saga, i think it's despicable to be in the limelight by making fun of someone else, well she's had enough attention ...

I received this belated birthday card from a friend, definitely not something i expected to have for a working adult. Because i always assume that this is more common while schooling, thanks for the effort anyway ; )

Halloween night dinner is coming, been in the organising committee i was "forced" to dress up to spook people. Let's see how that will turn out to be, should be fun and hilarious i guess. The design of the poster is nice so i took one of the lying-around-coffee-table copy back home to upload online.

Beside's doing practical shoot, i love to read up on the tips and tricks from the magazines so as to improve on my skill. I'm still trying to convince myself to shoot in raw format, probably it's time to do so since my storage capacity has just been upgraded by a whopping 500GB. There's even extra space for me to experiment the latest Windows 7, cool hur !

Again another belated present received, at this point of time i have yet to reveal it but i thought of taking a picture for fun.

I bought a matching keyboard for my computer, initially though of using it for my desktop but it doesn't feel quite comfortable for gaming use. So it's going to be cold-storage with the netbook, i seldom use it unless required during travel. They do look compatible !

Yeah i had potatoes for lunch today, tasty treats at very affordable price ! The dining experience was made complete when the lady boss asked did we like the food and greeted us off with a smile. In return she received two thumbs up from us and we happily stepped out from Potato Heaven. I always love patronizing heartland little cafe for small bites, it doesn't cost an arm or a leg and it's just walking distance from home.

Last but not least, i am hooked by the show Destination Truth. It's by far one of the greatest ghost buster shows produced on television, no more crappy lengthy interviews and fake directed scenes. This is about getting down to ground operation and get real. Equipped with latest technology gadget, they stake out different location of the world in search of mystical creature and paranormal sightings. You can check out this episode of the island of dolls, super creepy and a doll actually opened it's eye by it's own !!!

Why does it have to happen just before the F1 begins and when i'm on leave. After extensive diagnosis, im quite sure that the CPU has went bogus, at least that's what the manual says so based on the described symptoms. Is this the cue for me to join the Intel camp ? The grass is definitely much more greener on the other side, the current AMD chipset lasted me for only 2 years and keep giving me problems occasionally. Perhaps the life span was shorten due to overclocking, but it's supposed to withstand the "push" without kicking the bucket !

Night exploring at undisclosed location X, but we never got near to our target due to the heavy rain which flooded the field. Lesson learned; wear army attire to prepare ourselves for any harsh condition. So far there was only an occasion where we worn "full attire" in search for the legendary Dungeon rumored that leads to Malaysia. It was one of the memorable experience in my journey of exploration, frequent readers of my blog would know what i'm referring.

Back to the topic, we spent a hour in the forest in vain for a non water-clogged path to our destination. Soaking our feet in the muddy path was not a good experience, we decided to give up for good and come back again another night.

The quality failed me miserably. I do not understand why people love to queue for sub-standard food at premium price (mind you it's not cheap). I will never ever buy their Nasi Lemak again, the Bak Chor Mee beside has better quality. :mad: But we did see air stewardess with heavy make-up patronizing the stall, that brightened up our mood alittle bit.

Ever heard of the road name Taman Nakhoda ? Strange name but there are actually many other road names which you would never come across unless for a specific purpose. Do you know that such road has exotic houses built there are as big as a football field with a garage full of super sports car. To own such ultra luxury properties in SG is simply "crazy", it seems so beyond the reach for commoners, even striking toto wouldn't get any near to their wealth.

I almost forgot to mention the reason to be in that area. Notice there is a blue roof top house at the right hand side of the picture ? It has been abandoned for nearly a century, there are alot of stories behind the house that makes it even interesting. Somehow the access route to it was heavily chained and there was no other way we could take.

End up we found ourselves at Dempsey Hill for night snack, perhaps we should heed the elderly advice to stay away from allegedly "haunted places". Not a fail mission i would say, at least we had a great time observing the super cars (Ferrari, Posh, GTR, Audi etc) zooming at Holland Road.

Once again the strictlyeuro explorer team is out to discover the unseen/unheard forbidden grounds where most people would rather steer clear away. Most people believe it is an absolute taboo to even discuss about any stuff related to paranormal, it is better to be safe than sorry in the 7th month. Does it mean that you will not be forgiven if you step into their territory during the 7th month ? Look we have been in the business for several years and nothing happened in our outing particularly the 7th month. Although it is widely believed that the chances to stumble into them are higher, we have not encounter anything true sightings except noise which our minds could be playing prank.

In our belief, there's nothing to be afraid if you are guiltless, only seeing is believing.

On a silent night we set off to an abandoned estate that resembles the scenes of an evacuated town seem in movies. Did an zombie apocalypse outbreak in this little town spreading the virus as fast H1N1, turning into ghost town overnight ? If you think so then it must be too much of those frictional movies you have been watching.

We didn't have answer to the residence mysterious disappearance, but for sure we know this place has a new purpose now. Besides playing hide-n-seek without disturbing your neighbour peace, it is an excellent place to train soldiers to fight in urban warfare.

Super Mario Brothers giving a warm welcome

At first i thought that the convention is going to be a huge event covering 2 floors like the quarterly PC shows, but it turns out to be a small exhibition occupying 2 halls in Suntec City. Despite small scale of the show, it was one of the enjoyable show i attended in Suntec City as far i as remembered.

Be it food festival, electronics fair, book fair or PC show, large crowd will flood the halls as if there are free stuff to be given away, but hell no not even cheaper at times. Although economics have been poor in recent times, the show never fail to break sales record or see a drop in attendance. I am puzzled by Singaporeans act, bad times but got money to spend on gadgets, where got recession ?

Today atmosphere in the hall is a little quiet, perhaps due to early hours and targetted niche market of Otaku ( obessive interest in jap anime/comics ). For the first time i feel so much space to walk about in an exhibition, no baby strollers bumping my legs or sweaty bodies : )

Feeling thirsty after uncountable laps around the convention hall sourcing for the best buy ? Check out the free cups of pink dolphin in the foyer to serve for all, no need to rush for it because nobody are going to fight with you over that. But i can't guarantee that to be same over the weekends, you know lah Singaporean winning attitude, everything must be the first.

Miss Pinky was still feeling thirsty after glupping down the pink dolphins, artificial drink wasn't effective in quenching thirst so i brought her to have the most powderful Ice Kachang in Singapore, all thanks to Gary for the tip off.

It ain't a normal occasion that i found myself in an Ang Moh prestige club having 2 hearty tea-breaks and an executive lunch, fully paid by yours (ah gong) truly. It was a pre-national day break to reward myself by having lecture, tea-break, lecture, lunch, lecuture, early knock off at Orchard Road instead at Ulu Science Park.

When the long awaited scrumptious dishes were served, i whipped out my camera to snap pictures for documentary purposes. Other colleagues seeing me doing so, took out their camera phones to snap as well. Those without camera devices requested me to drop an attachement through email which i gladly did so : )

Pictures time, seeing them makes me drool again :)~

Took the opportunity to take a few pictures within the club premises discretely which my unobtrusive LX3 did a great cloak job. You can be sure that photography is strictly not allow in private clubs especially with an "intruding" dslr hanging over your neck, that is bound to invite security guards for trouble. However i was still caught by them taking the exterior despite standing afar from the building, nothing happened to my pictures except i was let go with a gentle warning... used to it already...

Walkbout at Orchard ION to check out this latest iconic symbol in Orchard Road. Still a relatively new shopping mall with many shops yet to roll up their shuttles. And rest assured that the higher floors are not flooded with exotic out-of-reach brands shops, why do i keep hearing from people that the stuff gets expensive as the floor goes higher huh ?

Shop N Save for National Day

While the lucky chosen ones have the chance to catch the NDP preview at the floating Marina Stage celebrating the independent day, i have a fair share as well by boasting the economy at Orchard ION. In conjunction with the National Day, the carrier they provided were in red and white symbolizing our National colour. Now comes the real deal, the stores had collaboration with the NDP committee such that shoppers get to enjoy discount up to 44% on all regular items ! Wait don't get so excited yet, if only this is true then ION would be swarming with tons of Kiasu Shoppers. The secret deal is only extended to staff of participating outlets, simply to say you need friends who had link with the retail outlet to enjoy the exclusive deal. A big thanks goes to Jamie Leong for making my Shop N Save motto possible : ) By the time when Singapore celebrate it 100th year of independent, what kind of promotions will the shops be churning out ?

On a sidenote, i did a google search on Shop N Save and found out that it's actually under the umbrella coperation of Cold Storage. I always thought that it is a standalone supermart that has the 2nd worst store layout of all (my vote for worst goes to sing song). To think that Shop N Save actually has the financial backing of Cold Storage, they should hire more pretty/hot mums like Vivien Lai, Huang Biren, Pan Ling Ling as their spokes housewife.

Beside having a splendid superficial day at Orchard ION, my very kawaii niece and nephew came over my place to invade my room and computer. It wouldn't do justice if i don't post their adorable pictures here.

Last but not least, showcasing few pictures i took at my Robertson Quay walk last friday after work. The after photography program should have been more interesting than drinking at 7-11, I would have crashed the party at Zouk or dbl o if not for my friend inappropriate attire.

First Portrait Shoot : Behind The Scenes

It all started when i feel decided that i have enough of taking landscape, that's when i approach my friends for a collaboration of portrait shoot. Choosing a location has always been selective for me, same for my friends, so on a fine morning we headed to a quiet place in Seletar area where we can shoot with ease without disturbance.

Doing a portrait shoot is an entirely different game from landscape, it requires good communication and teamwork to produce results. A constant challenge in portaiture is determing whether the pose connotes masculinity or feminity and adjusting accordingly. As a photographer i need to observe the details and guide my subjects to portrait correctly. At first it might be awkward working with them, after awhile once rapport has been built we started to have fun and experimenting.

Without any experience in portraiture, it took quite a while before getting into the mood for creativity. Fortunately my friends have been very patient in helping me to build confidence in getting the right shots.

Mystery of OCH

No one could not have ever heard of the haunted Old Changi Hospital, there are so many astonishing incredible tales about the place that could prove too hard to believe. As for the random stories floating in the urban legend, hearsay without evidence support is just as good as coffeeshop talk. At many times facts are distorted from the truth, only seeing is believing. Believe it or not here are some stories we came across, the source always from my friend's friends.

- heard a little girl crying in the infamous ward
- Stuck at the highest floor for several hours as they could not find the stairs down
- felt a push while taking the stairs
- came out of the building with unknown burises, always associated with claws or bites of ghostly spirits.

- And lastly the most famous urban legend which we are going to debunk, exploring the creepiest missing basement of OCH; the mortuary. In the cyberspace, some people claimed that they have been to the basement and seen things that aint supposed to appear; the ice cold fridge, chemicals to preserve bodies, blood stain etc. However pictures of the basement never surface, thus till today the existence of the basement still remains very doubtful.

Going back to OCH is like homecoming. For every ghost hunter it surely begins somewhere here, or ends here. Over the years nothing have changed in OCH, except that the walls are getting colorful.

We received a tip off on the location of basement stairway from one of our member cousin, it's somewhere around the back alley corner...

Lots of shattered glasses everywhere, was it deliberate act of human or the act of god ? We navigate extremely cautions in our slippers to escape unharmed in this highly "dangerous" mission.

OCH consist of 2 blocks if im not wrong, the main block and the A&E. They are connected by a corridor at the highest level, the tight width of staircase can only accommodate 2 person side by side at most.

To reach to the other block, first must walk through this long series of corridor. Did you notice the objects hanging at the window ? It's some kind of amulet with monk imprint, we are clueless on why or who set them up.

Here we are at the A&E block, where many patients might have lost their life here. Right at the middle of the carpark, there were many offerings and amulets hanging around and they resemble a ritual formation. No pictures taken as i didn't to offend them and invite troubles.

Still looking for the stairway to hell in the A&E block. Could it be our sources fail us again ? When we spoke to 2 different group of ghost hunters, they gave us the most bewildered expression upon hearing the search for the basement. Obviously they haven't been doing homework on the hunting ground.

According a popular ghost hunting website, the route to the basement had been demolished and there's no way to get down there. What about the tip off that we received on the basement stairs ? Did it magically appear for the chosen one's ? Certainly we did not possess that kind of luck or else the mystery of OCH would be solved, hence taking away the ghostly charm it had all this years.

The next time we might just be bringing the person who have been to the basement, to lead and show us the exact location. It will be a myth for now, unless proven by strictlyeuro...

Night at the Old Birdcage Walk

Alrighty here we go again, we are back to ghostly business again. We are not going to be contented with wasting the night idling around, hence we found ourselves in a very unfamilar road name, Old Birdcage Walk. Even the most seasonal driver in Singapore would not have a single clue on this location unless with an updated Street Directory.

Before the exploration begin, the road name could probably send a cold chill down your spine, dare to take a walk at the old and spooky road ? When life just get bored over routine stuff, it experiencing the unknown that makes you feel alive. However it doesn't work for everyone, perhaps for some would just prefer seeing comfortable things and taking life the easy way out, but for us we love to be different.

Welcome to the ghost walk

Another abandoned building discovered in a secluded location, land is scarce yet there are not shortages of "haunted" houses to explore, truly unique country. The road to the area was cordoned off making it thus making it cloaked in the darkness, but nothing could escape from our night vision eyesight.

The surrounding was barricaded by barbwire, you could sense that visitors are definately not welcomed.

A big gap discovered where we made our entry in the unknown building. Noticed that most of the windows and doors were planked to discourage illegal lodging.

Picture taken with flash couldnt reveal the end of corridor, walking down the narrow corridor seems like a never ending journey. Wrapped in absolute darkness, it's hard not to imagine a ghostly hand would just pull you into one of the door... Everything was just in pure black once the flash gun had fired off, we prefer the minimal usage of torches to blend into the atmosphere.

Strangest thing can happen in the woods, it always safe to steer clear from the utter darkness.

Staircase are always interesting as it lead us to a brand new level, like playing games and completing the stage. It's enticing to find out what's lies beyond it.

When the city sleeps at 10pm on a weekday in Singapore, people comfortably tuck in the bed watching the news before lights off. Some may stay up awhile more just to catch up with friends online, or publishing ridiculous quiz (fav sex position, how dirty minded are you etc ...) on facebook.

Come and join us for weekly Tuesday rendezvous at Jaybee and see what truly asia has to offer in the night, at half price and double the happiness.

There are signs everywhere to remind drivers to top up to 3 quarter tank full, however some would risk to save the petrol for Jaybee operators. It's a $500 fine for those who disobey, you have been warned.

New custom, they didn't say photography are prohibited

First stop was at an area near the old custom, business must have taken a hit since the opening of new custom. In the night regular customers still come back for their darn solid mutton soup which claims to boost vitality, at work or at home you decide.

Shops are setup in the back allay with no shelter, when it starts to drizzle they would quickly setup a mobile canvas across the lane. Care for customer with no additional service charge, put shame to restaurants when at times you get practically zero customer service, yet charged.

Carwash in Jaybee for 8RM will take care interior and external polish shiny shiny. Cheapest wash in our island cost $3, but prepare for long queue and watch several banagla hastily give half job while you are at your driver seat, your interior will not be taken care.

Supper's over but it the adventure doesn't stop here, in fact life has only just began after midnight.

Watch 5 gorgeous ladies from Thailand singing and dancing on the stage, accompanied with live band playing techno music ! It's quite hilarious to see them doing the techno dance moves and keeping up with the fast pace of music, but i'm loving it ! I never actually think i would live to see ladies singing techno music live, god is fair to me lah.

Rediscover Shenton Way

Having spent the past week in Shenton Way for official matters, it gave me the chance to discover some interesting heritage sightings. Normally in the heart of the central district, it's densely populated with tall office buildings and modern shopping malls.

Thank god it's friday that i had the opportunity to take a walk around the area, to appreciate what our forefathers had done to mould Singapore what it is today. Welcome to Shenton Way, where it is often associated with high flying executive elites.

Its been ages since i came to China Square, it has undergoned a major face lift that now stood out differently from the surrounding.

At the end of shophouses, it leads you to Far East Square that has been around centuries but i am not abit aware of. Build by the same organisation that brought you Far East Plaza, it's a unique mall that combines past architecture with modern structure, that brings out the culture and history of Singapore.

Check this out man, there's a mini museum named Fuk Tak Chi in the mall, not the first but definitely the few in our sunny island you can find. Shooting Fireworks Day 2

More fireworks picture back by popular demand. Actually there are many more clear/crispier/wonderful pictures uploaded on the internet, there's no way my shots from point and shot camera can hold it's candle to big brother DSLR.

Some people might have mistaken that i have been using DSLR, it's amusing to see their reaction when they spotted a compact camera hanging over my neck. And one even commented that i looked like voyeur, thanks and i will take that as a compliment.

Nevertheless here's some of the shots taken from 10 storeys high. There were already no parking lot for my tripod on the higher floors.

Before the show commenced, checked settings for optimal results.

1) Manual mode dial lock
2) Big aperture value
3) Pre set shutter speed 2 secs
4) Focus set to infinity
5) ISO 80
6) Tripod stability
7) Reality check, standing beside sweet young thing can be distracting
8) Reality check #2, why everybody camera so big size one, and i took lift with one blur cock holding a full frame camera, darn he looked like a kid.

Ok that's about it, viewing too many pictures from the same angle can be boring. Once the show was over, everybody was heading the easy way out; take the lift. Being the slower of the pack, i could only take the stairs like in a firedrill. Upon reaching the ground floor, i managed to beat the lift and snapped a picture before the door opened.

Shooting Fireworks from Ground Zero

I'm hamstrung by the fact that it's impossible to take decent pictures of fireworks under the following condition.

1) Handheld without tripod
2) Equipped with a non DSLR ( i'm trying to debunk this fact)
3) Lack of experience
4) Too amaze by the fireworks that you rather enjoy than to shoot

After going through the first day of wonderful display by Crackers? The World Famous, i'm not going to commit the same mistake again. Instead of posting spectacular trails of fireworks, i'm gonna upload from user perspective point of view.

Who would have expect Manchester United most prized possession player to leave abruptly this summer. After a series of transfer saga, the move will finally be materalised by this month end. Perhaps seeing an unusual erection in a training session has prompted him to make the switch. It's really freaky to do warmup beside somebody who has a crush on you, considering that the admirer has a bulge in the pants.

What happens after the training is even undesirable, i can understand his feelings but will never understand the pain went through literally. A dropped soap plus a pair of feets closing in equates to fatal combination. Some say why not use shower gel instead to prevent such tragic from occurring, shower gel can also drop on the ground and it's heavy to pick up. Maybe moving out/on is the only way out to end the agony pain.

Now you can throw away your Jersey, yup i'm talking to fans who wear his famous shirt haha. Goodbye Ronaldo, Hello 80million pound !

I figured out the fastest way to shoot to fame is to appear live on television, irregardless of the method used. They won't be able to cut away the scenes in a live telecast show, and you will enjoy the minute of fame before the director shouts commercial break. Better than taking part in Singapore Idol when you only stand a chance if your stupidity is worth the laugh.

1) Hold a banner to gain attention, but viewers would focus their vision to something more uhmmm... so becareful while doing so.

2) Attempt to invade the theatre and take over the live broadcast, they always say media is the most powerful tool of propaganda.

3) Try a long shot, throw your old grandmother shoe at Jack Neo during the show. Remember you only have 2 chance (pair of shoe) so aim it accurately.

4) Say something explicit that would astonish the audience, but i doubt i will ever get the chance to be interviewed and nobody would care about your first time experience enjoying a full body massage. That explains the shiokness by her.

One of the element to be a versatile blogger is to have the ability to blog from virtually anywhere. To my limited knowledge this are some possible scenario.

1) Blogging in a mrt train with a laptop ignoring the poor preggy lady standing.
2) Blogging through handphone while doing very personal business in the toilet.
3) Hogging MCD seats in busy lunch time, tell me how many young punk are actually doing homework behind the screen, Blogspot, Facebook or MSN more likely.

4) Typing this post through a mini laptop, trying hard to maintain balance so as not to drop it. Desktop is not an option because you are not at home, and it's been used for more power hungry application, Left 4 Dead.

Being mobility means there aren't many pictures to begin with, thankfully this mini laptop is able to read camera SD card so that means i can do a random picture post... or else ...

Seombody will not be pleased

Taking pictures at Sky garden while waiting for Hannah (ironically her name is Hannah) to watch Hannah Montana the movie. Normally i would have fancy action pack movie like terminator or high budget block buster movie, but a change would be rewarding sometimes. The movie turned out to be above average for my liking, i never expect i would enjoy this sort of teenage wait disney flicks. Do give it a watch if you looking for something from your usual favourite genre.

As a past avid ghost hunter in the past, we are proud to visit one of the scarcest spot ever exist in Singapore. Unlike common favourite ground like Old Changi Hospital or Red house, the old mental hospital is seldom mention in internet or forum. The lack of information has made the place even mysterious, most people could only speculate the location and history in the cyberspace.

My visit to Old Mental Hospital in year 2007 has spurt discussion in a popular local forum, which leads to my blog link here. The topic is occasionally brought alive by curious reader, though many are not aware of the latest development of the Hospital. For your information, the hospital is now renamed as View Road Dormitory, housing hundreds of foreign worker making it far from being haunted. I only discovered this about 2 months ago when i revisited the place in the middle of the night, who would expect my gang end up drinking soft drinks in a cafe located at the entrance. So there you go, a re-run of a memorable ghost haunting adventure conducted by Strictlyeuro, setting us apart from ordinary.

How can we do without a ghost hunting operation in our school holidays ? I promised my members to do one power pack one to make up for the past "failure" outings (not scary). As the organizer, i by chance stumbled upon this forgotten realm, a rare gem discovered that i guarantee almost nobody has ever heard of it before.

According to wikipedia,View Road hospital is located at Admiralty Road West, Woodlands, Singapore.It used to be a mental hospital, started in 1977. No other information is disclose, so not sure how long has it been vacant. As usual i as the organizer, has do all the back end stuff like arranging for transport, prepare torches/camera, fix a timing and meeting point. Total of 7 members were activated, all ready and set to go @ 12am. A special note is wen came back from Aus just in time, rizal joined us for the first time to experience our ghostly trip, (but who end up sending him home @ boon keng at 3am zzz)...

Without further delay, introducing the OCH successor ( since OCH will be gone soon), the view road hospital at view road in woodlands ! Kinda anticipating for eerie screams or unknown noises in the hospital, will we get something finally what we always wanted ? Sightings...

Before the trip i made a phone call to my dear policeman friend to find out the consequences of trans passing. He told me at most would be given a warning, also beware of the security cameras installed at the place, why did he know so much. That's because he caught people when the security guard called the police. Alright gotta make this quick before the authority are notified.

Vandalizing can be seen everywhere, seems like those idiots love to leave their name behind on every darn wall. The worst scenario would be spotting drug addicts and chasing you with needles in hand. Maybe next time we should carry some sort of weapon for self defense just like we versus the botak man in East Coast.

About 300 meters away from the spot we were standing, we saw a small house build on a hill top. It was isolated and the surrounding was just plains. We thought we saw an imaginary path/stair leading to it which was in fact not due to the lightning. It really looked like a floating magical path leading you to the house, camera cant capture it. It was just our eyes playing trick, believing the false path will lead you to jumping down 4th storey, that was why we don't stand less than 1 meter from the platform, in case of an unexplainable force pushing you down.

The house was there, we gonna figured out how to gain access to the hill top after we got down from the roof. Up next, our ears playing trick on us.

What Noise

We were inside one of the rooms beside the stairs, just when the gang was happily chatting away. 3 of us heard weird noises, I heard coughing, the other heard people talking, last guy heard something (don't know what). Immediately we maintained silence for a minute to observe the surrounding... Nothing but owl calling, it was tense for awhile. Ok all clear must be ears playing trick, proceeded down the stairs... Did i really hear a loud continuous coughing ?

When we were about to head for the stand alone house on the hill top, we saw couple of lights flashing. It's either the police coming for us or other explorers, so we laid low for the moment, observing the situation. Moved along the corridor, minimized our noise and communicate in signals. During the observation we noticed the used of flash lights, confirmed it's not the police so we decided to frighten them.

Since they didn't see us ( only our cars parked at the gate ), 2 members stationed at the building while the rest evacuated first. Brave yp and wen threw a bloody heavy stone onto the roof and made a loud rattling sound. Must have scared the hell out of those explorers, which was estimated to be around 10 or more ppl. Ran as fast as we could before they came chasing us with parangs, you never know what they are capable of ...

Overall a satisfied trip except that we missed out the isolated hut on the hill top. Successfully ventured without visit from policeman/guards. Maybe we will be back someday to cover the missing parts, since we were there for a good 30 minutes only due to unwelcome visitors.

The Return of Strictlyeuro

Just to share some visual assorted stuff of what my friend bought in japan for me. It was really a kind gesture from her because we barely knew each other for couple of months. In contrary some of my friends whom i knew over a decade have the cheek to come back empty handed, not even contributing a bottle alcoholic as a consolation.

You must be wondering why im not working on my new project and posting irrelevant contents here. There are no hard rules on blogging, when you are in the mood just post it, nobody gonna put a stop to it, peace !

As much as i wanted to create a new site, it will involve too many man-hours in doing so, how ah ? Keeping it simple like this might not be a bad idea after all, i'm no longer a carefree student who can afford the time to such agenda.

After some preliminary discussion with potential blog partners, i might collaborate with a design studio to revamp the whole site, with a personalized domain name and identity of it's own. Planning are still in the infant stage, all are still early to be disclosed but hopefully it will go according to my wish/plan.

Maybe uncle ah seng will be rope into my umbrella of writers, we had the pleasure of working together in the past after all. But firstly i will have to setup my new website asap with the team of designers, they have pretty good portfolio to support their reputation so it should be in good hands i guess.

Meantime i will have to complete a 10km run, it has gotta be the longest distance i will ever attempt. Next will move on to 24km :S

Introduction
Once again it has come to an end where we have to part separate ways. It has been an absolute pleasure in my life to blog about the everything in the universe, kudos to blogspot for inventing a revolutionary platform to make online publishing a breeze for everyone. Also not forgetting the people who followed me through thick and thin from the days of Strictlytechno, it wouldn't have been possible for me to carry on without your participation in my activities and readership support.

Reason
Why did i suddenly announce to retire from blogging ? Actually it has nothing to do with personal problems or circumstances what so ever, i find myself lacking the motivation to maintain the quality content as i stepped into the working society. If i fall short of the expectation i set here, might as well hang up my keyboard when the blog is still consider in it's "Hey" days. Better to retire at golden age than to pronounce dead silently right ?

Birth of Strictlytechno

It all started when i was serving the army, it would be a waste of time if we follow the conventional rule to serve and f*** off. To make my army life more memorable than chess games and extra duties, i decided to start a blog and begin my journey as a freelance "reporter". It will not be the same as many common blogs out there which i slammed as vainpots, therefore extra effort will be taken to ensure it doesn't not follow the trend of mainstream.

As an avid listener of techno music, hence the website strictlytechno was adopted. There isn't any rule of blogging, as long as it's anything unusual or interesting, i would put it up in my blog. Of course incredible tales doesn't happen everyday in your daily life routine, either you pay attention to details where others would neglect or make it happen. Below are some cited examples which i think it worth recapped, not blogged before.

There was once we were out to do dispatch to a nsmen. After we parked the vehicle behind the HDB, there was this ordinary low wall that anybody is able to leap over. My campmate ran like Usain Bolt and leaped like Liu Xiang, and ended up falling flat like Pole vaulter. I wasn't sure to laugh or pity him but i did lend him a helping hand when his butt cracked.

It's a deception trap

During our free time in camp, we would spend time bursting myth in the internet. Putting a pair of wooden chopsticks in a cup of hot water would bleach the water, fact or friction ?

The water didn't turn into milky white poison substance, but there was a strong stench of smell from the cup. To play safe we wouldn't advise you to use wooden chopstick to consume your hot mee soup, anything than that it should be fine.

Adventures Begin
There were so many load shits of funny moments to recall. Beside living through a daily life routine, we decided to do even more crazier stuff to document in the blog. Staking out at the darkest and dangerous hideout became our forte, to get rewards we had to place ourself in a dangerous situation. Acquiring our driving license later on has opened up a new dimension for us to explore, travelling places beyond imagination.

Besides focusing on Ghost Haunting( which soon ceased operation as we covered most of the areas) and hardcore adventures, sometimes i love to take a walk in the nature, discovering hidden makan places. Therefore old blog was dumped and strictlyeuro continues, in a light hearted manner to introduce various places/sightings in our island. Old school markets in heartland has always been our favourite choice, as it offers best value for us to eat till our heart contented.

The hunt for good food will never end till we die, there are simply too many gems waiting for us to discover. They need not necessary be high class restaurant food, down to earth food market has plenty to offer, to the extent you are spoil for choices.

Occasionally i do visit exquisite restaurant but i rather not make effort to blog about it and enjoy the dinner heartedly. And recommending hawker fare to readers would be more practical in a way i guess.

Photography
In my blogging journey, i have taken thousands of pictures and gradually i aim to improve my skills. Lately i have been travelling around Singapore to take pictures from another perspective, some things you have been missing is actually just right beside you. It's your instinctive to pick up those finer things in life. To make the pictures more interesting, i always love to shoot at places where less people frequent, so that it unfolds story more than just a picture.

It surprising that my $199 cheapo camera has enable me to capture many beautiful scenes. Camera though affect picture quality, it's the composition of photo which matters most. You need not carry a DSLR camera to be pro, it just takes a little extra tweaking/setting to get your point and shoot camera right.

Live your Life
If you have been following my blog, you know what's is this all about. Life is about experience and making memories, wouldn't it be a waste if there is nothing worth mentioning about in your teen days ? What stories can you relate to your children/grand children? Oh you studied hard in school, worked your way to university and get a decent job. Beside studying/army/leveling up in online games, any other life experience you can share ? i always believe in making the most out of your life, instead of spending doing something which everybody else is, why not make a difference to your life, add spice to it, see the world in different perspective and you will feel that life is more meaningful.

I don't know why i'm like that, perhaps seeing this world corroding and the disgusting mindset of typical youngster have made me separated from them. Wandering the streets in orchard road indulging in common family restaurant is not the lifestyle i yearn, occasionally is okay but making it a habit is far too unproductive. Fortunately that doesn't make me an introvert, i am glad i made friends along the way from primary school to my current company.

Thanks for the accompany all this while, hope you have enjoyed the journey with me. Now it's time for you to crave out your life story, while i focus my life on career and relationship. Growing up means undertaking more responsibility, to the young people out there, cherish your youth and enjoy life to the max.

Dempsey Hill has been around going unnoticed for years before been shone under the spotlight as the hippest hangout spot for young yuppies. To define young yuppies, successful fresh graduates who earns a decent amount of salary and doesn't mind over-spending to indulge themselves. Haha that's just my own sentiments, basically it would mean young working adults. Anyway it's a place with no age restriction, spotted kids at the brewhouse and lots of teenagers hanging out at the favourite ice cream joint Ben and Jerry.

Lack maintenance

Slowly i notice the trend to promote "chill out" @ "countryside, there have been so much articles on the papers lately to introduce places that is darn out of the way from the usual town area. Since Singaporeans always complain our country is too small without much places to go, it's always interesting to see the media publish some ideas to share with the public. For example the southern ridge and kranji countryside has been receiving so much attention in this recession period, they are cheaper alternative to Sentosa and exotic oversea's holiday.

However Dempsey Hill has received far too much make over to transform this place into an exclusively elite territory. Shophouses like exotic furniture shop, boutique and restaurant all looked "unapproachable". Maybe i still have that sort of student mentality, carrying only $20 looking for the best deal that won't wipe out my pocket money for the weekend, maybe Ben n Jerry is the only that can spare you mercy.

After strolling at the top of the hill, we decided to settle down at the red dot brewhouse at the entrance. Similar concept to Brewerkz, they have their own refinery to produce exclusive house draft.

Here comes the main highlight of the night, the green monster beer! It wont cost you an arm or a leg to order this, only $8 for 390ml or $11 for next higher capacity which is definitely cheaper than Brewerkz. Girls steer clear because it looked like green but it doesn't taste like peppermint. But you can be assured of it's smoothness going down your throat, beats the hell out of generic beer at coffeeshop haha.

If you are looking for something new why not drop by here and experience the xmas atmosphere. My expectation was high and it kinda failed me, partially because i came here couple of years ago and it wasn't that "commercialized". Up next Portsdown road, they should have pretty good hidden gems there.

The Marina Barrage

It was 3am in the morning while we were travelling along ECP, the bright lights on the calm reservoir caught our attention. They were not the light source from the IR construction, we figured out that it's the latest "attraction" in town, the Marina Barrage. The idea of watching Sunrise at the city reservoir was materialised after ice cream dessert at 24HR swensen @ crown prince hotel. Service at the restaurant was almost non existence, we helped ourself to the table, menu and carried the food to the table. I guess it can't be helped with few miserable staff running the place in wee hours, dropped in service standard is understandable.

It's kinda madness to have ice cream in the middle for the night, only hongnehneh could have come out with such idea. The next moment we found ourself chilling out at the Marina Barrage which have barely opened 1 week, this should put us among the first 20,000 people who visited this place ( 10,000 from the Newpaper bigwalk last week). According to my colleague, this project was visioned by MM Lee some 20 years ago. What is the purpose of building a dam across the Marina Channel ?

The Marina Barrage brings three important benefits; a new source of water supply, flood control and a lifestyle attraction. It increases Singapore's water supply, meeting 10 percent of our needs. It also serves as flood control to east flooding in low-lying areas of the city. The calm waters of the reservoir also make it an ideal venue for activities such as sailing and kayaking.

Besides walking along the bridge, you can also take the lift to the green rooftop which allows you to see breathe taking scenery of the landscape.

Alternatively you can climb the snaky slope to the rooftop, take your time to snap pictures from various angle, you will be amazed by the huge plot of artificial land created at the top. Even playing soccer is possible if you are not afraid of losing your ball to the reservoir.

Trip to Tanjong Rhu went accordingly as planned =) Followed by a walk at East Coast Park to enjoy the sea breeze since we had the whole night long.

Based on the above picture you might wanna assume that it's taken at some air conditional food court but it's not. It's a modern hawker center decorated with beautiful ceiling lights to make it look "high class". At here you will find all "famous" store come under one roof, thus it will be hard to decide which store to patronize.

One fine example that stood out from the crowd is the "Rob Stall" ( in chinese ), the decorations and photos were so prominent that no one would not miss it, especially attracted first time eaters like us.

After tasting it's soup, all we can say is ... Normal loh ! If you can find a soup prawn mee that Wows you, that would probably be the best in Singapore, because almost all are normal standard. The die die must try food is the curry chicken, just the right amount of spicyness and sweetness. Soak it with bread and there you go, taste better than chewing up the pieces of chicken breast meat, full level of shiokness !

Venturing into "foreign" places gives the same excitement as visiting haunted places, you never know what's expecting you, sometimes disappoints or rewards you. Now that the situation doesn't permit me to go for anymore adventures, will have to pin more hope on food exploration in the future.

Recession : Time to Jumptrack

It's time for the rough ride, the crashing of stock market has caused Singapore to enter in a state of technical recession since year 2002. The pinch has already been felt from the increasing electricity bills and transport fare, perhaps year end bonus might be drastically cut down, civil servants not spared :(

Increasing cost of living and shortages of jobs might push unemployed rate to new high. To some Singaporeans who cannot stand this kind of stress will take the easy way out, commit suicide. There has been an increasing trend in recent years to jump track which prompted SMRT to install barriers at all non-underground stations. Therefore some would like to make it into the hall of shame before the installation of barriers, which ended up causing so much trouble for commuters and rescuers.

Everybody looked lost and dismay, some cursing the efficient of our world class transport failing to technical errors ( which is not the cause for disruption ). Commuters were advised to travel to marina bay via jurong east or by other means of transport such as bus or cab (super long queue). The victim (troublemaker) who apparently looked like a guy, seem to survive the suicide attempt and was quickly rushed to hospital. Curious bystanders surrounded the victim and needed the SCDF effort to make way through the crowd. I heard the MRT license plate appear in today's 4D draw but jumped digit haha... don ask me what number is it because i didn't take note.

Man hit by train; services disrupted

Train services from Sembawang to Yio Chu Kang were disrupted for about half an hour yesterday after a man jumped onto the tracks and was hit by a train at Yishun MRT station.

The Chinese man in his late 40s was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and pronounced dead at about 1pm.

To maintain service on the unaffected stretches of the North-South Line during the incident, some southbound trains were turned around at Sembawang and Yio Chu Kang MRT stations.

May i dedicate this IPPT silver award to my dearest tiffany, who gave me words of encouragement such as, sleep early, drink more water, dun eat chilli, got banana eat banana and bREAthe O2 ... therefore i am able to achieve my best result since ORD. Not forgetting my bunkmate did a great job to pace me as well, and he wasn't even participating in IPPT due to his pending status !

Don't get me wrong, i'm still in the midst of my week long reservist. It is a good break from work and girlfriend, with the accompany of bunch of hilarious campmates cracking dirty jokes everynow and then. Especially we keep poking fun on a high school teacher, like how can he not resist the temptation from sweet young thing (SYT) while teaching etc !

Heh reservist is really one hell experience, shiok lah, driven with power of love! The incentive from IPPT will come in handy for tifi birthday : )

Ahh many of you have been extremely concern over my relationship status, it seems like getting attached is a phenomenal thing for me. For example when i bumped into random people on the streets, their first question to me is "er where is your girlfriend", with a smug face. Then i realize that you guys have been silently monitoring my social website or blog all this while, i say a thank you very much for your care and concern, i am extremely contented with my job, family, buddies and girlfriend.

It is really by fate that we got together, it couldn't have happen without the peer pressure from buddies and colleagues forcing me to make the decisive phone call in the night. Prior to that my boss has been creating opportunity to me by giving dinner treat so as to invite her along, foot the bill and quickly make excuses to leave early haha... Also a special thanks to siew gek who was a catalyst to this whole affair, ultimately it was you who matchmake us, owe you one big one ok ?

My neighbour Shini would tell me this when i get rejected by other girls (yes spelt pural) - God is making her stronger because she is not ready. Although i am not affiliated to Christian, but this phrase has served me well over the tough period. So if your special one has yet to appear, be a little more patient or you can always join the SDU heh ...

Work @ Science Park

Some of you out there have no idea where is Science Park and even mistaken it as Singapore Science Centre... Similar to the international business park, whereby it serve as a hub to house all the technology companies to do R&D. For a park lover like me, it's a great fortune to work in a organisation located in Science park, except that the travel distance really puts me off, otherwise no complains on the environment and shuttle buses transport.

Imagine working in the heart of shenton way, the super fast pace walking speed and uniquely tissue reservation system to chop seats in the food court will only increase my blood pressure !

Hopefully yp can pass his interview and join me on the hectic journey to science park, bo bian for our love one's, what to do ? And coincidentally my girlfriend is working in International Business Park, but it's miles away from Science Park !

Happy birthday to myself. Feeling a little tipsy right now at 1am and i'm suppose to wake up at 630am for work heh.

Happy Birthday to strictlyeuro ! Age is catching up already, i am no longer a carefree student who can afford to waste time on bo liao adventures. Also the fact that everybody reminding me getting 1 year older is so demoralizing. Anyway age is just numbers, what matters most is the way you perceive things and live your life, it would be so meaningless to do the same thing everyday and when you grow older there's nothing even worth remembering.

Since the girls wanted to give a birthday treat, i purposely picked a location that's way out of town so they can't do any shoppings after dinner and we can go home straight. They are also not very keen to take a walk in Sembawang Park too heh. Buckaroo is a restaurant located ulu at Andrew's avenue, the surroundings are all private estate and not much people know of it's existence despite the excellent food served. By the way Andrew avenue is somewhere near Sembawang park, the same road that leads to Bottle Tree Village (not khatib one), not at all far from Yishun.

Buffalo wings also known as hot wings originated from USA city Buffalo. It is one of their signature dish and consist of hotness level 1 to 10, sadly all the girls cannot take level 2 onwards. But i know of someone who eat chilli without breaking a sweat, Tiffany ! Come back next time for level 10 !!!!! For the super hardcore one there's level 28 apparently served at Seletar Sunset grill & bar, another super ulu restaurant that requires transport.

Ditch the regular neighbour coffeeshop or Chongpang market for routine breakfast, the hunt for the delicious food begins on Saturday morning at Whampoa Food Centre. The place might be less familiar to those who stay in the North and seldom step out of their comfort zone to venture. When it comes to places like the triple B (Bendemeer, Boon Keng, Balestier) and Whampoa, one can't help to associate it with aging population and not so modern estates. But you cannot disregard that the areas have some of the best hidden food gems that would send you to the heaven, then you would realize that the food market in the north is really crappy. Maybe grass is always greener on the otherside and i won't deny the fact because humans are programmed to think this way.

Making your food orders in a "foreign land" is always not so straight forward, there are so many choices to choose from and they all looks equally good. The layman way of doing is by judging the queue at the stall, though sometimes it will go wrong too.

Brief review on the food, the mee is very Q and breaks easily without much chewing effort. Char siew is pretty much standard but the main selling point is the sauce combine with the mee. The only complain would be the serving is a bit small for hungry eater like me, otherwise it's recommendable to give it a try.
